In a nutshell

Thanks to our Shoppers and Runners, all Picnic customers receive timely deliveries. They are essential to our supply chain, and our business couldn't run smoothly without them. As our Payroll Lead, you will co-manage the monthly payroll cycle for Shoppers, Runners, and Central Teams, handle employee benefits, manage sick leave, and ensure regulatory compliance. You will also coordinate and execute benefits with the People team, work with our payroll provider, improve processes, train teams on payroll aspects of HR policies, and collaborate with various business teams. Together with our three other Payroll & Benefits Specialists you will help Picnic grow! 

Tricks of the trade

  • Lead payroll operations: Own the end-to-end monthly payroll process and lead a team of specialists, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.
  • Drive improvements & automation: Optimize payroll workflows and partner with tech teams to scale and automate processes within our homegrown systems.
  • Manage benefits & compliance: Oversee employee benefits and ensure full compliance with tax, labor, and social security regulations.
  • Support employees & stakeholders: Act as the go-to expert for payroll and benefits topics, collaborating across teams and handling inquiries professionally.
  • Deliver insights & shape structure: Prepare payroll reports, maintain accurate records, and help define policies and scalable frameworks for the future.

 

Your superpowers

  • A completed bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, HR, or a related field is required. Payroll specialist certifications are a strong advantage
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets is essential. Familiarity with HCM systems, especially Workday, is a plus
  • 4+ years of professional experience in payroll, payments, HR, or finance
  • A responsible and precise approach to tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate priorities and provide updates on payment progress
  • Fluency in both German and English
  • Strong ability to prioritize effectively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
